I spent many days in 2015 feeling the ache of heartbreak.

I’ve heard that when a bone breaks and heals, it’s stronger than before. I’m not sure if it’s true about bones, but it’s definitely true about my heart.

With each and every crack, I devoted myself to speaking the truth and honoring love.

Decision making was daunting, I lost my desire to write, self-trust was shaky, and overwhelm was constantly bubbling just below the surface.

Standing at the edge of the scariest thing I’ve ever known, the bitterness of uncertainty mixed with the sweetness of possibility.

On the other side I can see the gifts that were hiding in my dark night – dropping the prettiness of pleasantness, the shattering of expectation, the liberation of releasing attachments, healing wounds I couldn’t see, and surrendering to the deepest love I’ve ever known.

The cracks were painful, the break was agonizing, but in the process I’ve learnt about a thousand things about misery and magic, sovereignty and devotion, trusting the knowing, respecting the power of love, and living with an open heart.

The journey of life and love is to return to the soul, again and again and again and again.

Even in the pain.
Especially in the dark.

If you’re experiencing heartbreak – whether from loss, love, or this wild ride called life – tend to your soul and trust the healing will come.

When it does, your heart will be stronger than ever before.
